How to Use Our Landscape Irrigation Planning Designer

design sprinkler system

A better option is to have the boxes in a clear location where you can work in them with ease. Admittedly, the caps can clash with the aesthetics of yard but options, such as faux rocks, can blend the boxes with your landscape. Zones connect to valves, which are grouped together in a valve box, where they connect to the main water line. Placement is a matter of preference, but there are few things to take into account when deciding where to put your valve boxes. It’s important to make sure everything is installed properly to work with your existing system.

How to Use Our Landscape Irrigation Planning Designer

Let’s talk about each, their pro’s and con’s and where you might use them. Once you have followed these steps and designed your sprinkler system, now is the time to install the irrigation system based on your design. Plan to install the front yard zone near where cars are parked first, so it gets used regularly. You may also want to look into installing a backflow preventer if you have an outdoor spigot that is not in the direct vicinity of your sprinkler system zones. You’ll need to pick which type of watering method you want – drip or sprinkler – and make sure it matches with what kind of irrigation system works best in your yard’s soil conditions. To measure and prepare your lawn for a sprinkler system, you’ll need to know the size of the area to be watered.

Use our Uniformity Select tool to determine the most water-efficient sprinkler configuration for your fields. At Rain Bird, we understand irrigation designers come with varying levels of expertise and industry experience. If you have any queries about installing your sprinkler system or seeking quality equipment, you can contact us via live chat, filling the form, or visit our store. There’s no use having an automated one if all the excess water just sits in place or runs into areas where it isn’t wanted, like roads or sidewalks! Make sure your area is big enough and already has a proper drainage system installed, too, if needed. It would help if you also made sure there are no gaps between pieces of tubing because this will cause air pockets where water cannot reach plants evenly and other problems such as leaks.

- PLAN

For areas larger than 25’ x 25’, you’ll want to use large area sprinklers (either gear driven or impact heads). Areas smaller than 25’ x 25’ will use popups (either traditional or rotary). For flower beds, shrubs, ground cover, etc. you’ll want to use small area sprinklers, drip, or soaker lines. Finally, combine small sprinkler heads into clusters of various circuits, and each cluster will be controlled by one valve.

Ensure your entire lawn or garden gets watered by including the spots in the design where nozzles start and finish. Maintaining a healthy and flourishing lawn requires more than watering and regular mowing. You also need a well-designed sprinkler system that provides even and efficient water coverage. A carefully designed sprinkler system not only saves water but also saves you time and money. Designing a sprinkler system for your lawn or garden is a daunting process.

Next, determine some specific factors of your lawn or garden, including the size of each zone in square footage. Measure the distance from your home to where you want to install the system and take into account any obstacles between them, such as trees or buildings that may block water flow over time. As their name implies, these sprinklers are effective in covering large areas of turf. Impact heads are familiar to us because of the recognizable ratcheting noise they make as they go back-and-forth. At DripWorks, we have an ample selection of sprinkler heads and all irrigation equipment of top-notch quality. Since the brand matters, we deliver sprinkler heads and other sprinkler system items of high-quality brands like K-Rain, Rainbird, and Hunter.

So, make watering efficiency and conservation your target and you’ll get where you need to go. However, you can widen the space between sprinklers if your lawn is odd-shaped. If you're looking for a design service to make the layout of your system, our qualified design agents can help you by designing your sprinkler system layout. Picking your sprinkler heads is one of the most essential parts of designing a home sprinkler system. There are many different kinds of heads, and knowing which ones you need will help your design process go more smoothly.

A personalized plan is just a few simple steps away.

At DripWorks, we have a vast selection of sprinklers, valves, spray heads, and other irrigation system items you'll need to design your home sprinkler system. The first and foremost step to designing your sprinkler system is evaluating and preparing the area of your lawn where you want to install a sprinkler system. For it, determine your lawn's actual size, shape, and unique characteristics. You will need to measure the dimensions of your yard, note any slopes or irregularities, and evaluate how much water is available from your water source. In fact, inaccurate measurements are a common cause of sprinkler system replacement.

They don’t exceed the total GPM of our main line (14 GPM and 13.35 GPM). Next, divide your property into zones to prevent over or underwatering your plants. Dividing the lawn into multiple zones will help you counter dry spots and diseases that may occur from overwatering or underwatering. By following this step, you will get to know the water coverage needed for different areas. They cost more and repairs can be a more intricate and may even require changing the entire head. When considering rotor sprinklers it’s important to determine if your area meets these requirements   If so, you'll be pleased with the outcome.

Pop-up sprinkler heads aren’t perfect though, and there are situations where they may not be ideal. Pop-ups are the carpet-bombing of sprinklers; they’re not precision instruments. The advantages of using pop-up sprinkler heads are the ease of use, even watering patterns, and affordability. What head you use will be determined by the size of the watering area.

Sprinkler heads are the mechanisms you see spraying the water on your lawn. There are various types of heads, each with a specific purpose, and we’ll get to that in a bit. As all sprinkler systems aren't designed the same, make sure to stick with one sprinkler brand for effective output. Designing the layout of your sprinkler system is essential before you connect the pipes. Draw out sprinkler head locations and spraying circles on your map.

The majority are available on Windows, but Mac and Linux users have a slightly more limited choice of options, with Rhino 3D being one of few car design programs available on Mac. Rhino 3D is one of the few car design automotive software that offers a native mac app, and has a wide range of powerful modeling tools that make it suitable for modeling cars. Another great thing about Illustrator is that, unlike many other car modeling software, it has apps for iOS and Android. This allows you to design anywhere, anytime through the device of your choice, and the iPad app supports Apple stylus’, allowing you to get extra creative with freehand car designing. As 3D modeling is a lot more complex than 2D designing, Adobe Illustrator is a great beginner CAD software for car design – especially for exteriors. It’s also super well-designed and easy to use, which is another plus for newbie car designers.

Tesla uses CATIA V6, which is integrated with Enovia, Dassault Systemes’ product data manager software, to allow seamless collaboration across its teams. Autodesk’s Alias is an industrial design software for sketching, 3D modeling, rendering, visualization, and animation. It’s geared very much toward car design and is one of the most widely used automotive CAD programs and vehicle rendering software. This is a very flexible software that uses top-quality colors and graphics, so your designs really pop. Adobe offers a wide range of stock car designs, and there are even more car vector templates available from third-party sites, which you can access for free and then edit in your Illustrator account. You can literally order any design, which allows your company to display its logo and any other relevant information that you would like to include.

What tools or materials do I need?

This is also the case if you’re looking for mobile apps for designing cars, as only a few programs, like Adobe Illustrator, offer high-quality apps suitable for designing cars on smartphones and tablets. There are several tutorials online showing how to model Tesla cars, like the Model-S and Cybertruck, using CATIA, as well as more general videos showing how to make any type of car. There is also a wide range of car and car part designs from CATIA that you can download for free and use as templates.

Catia, Solidworks, Fusion 360, Autodesk Alias, and Blender are all popular car body design software. Luckily there are plenty of tutorials and even full courses for most of the best CAD software for car design, but make sure weigh up budgets and time restraints. Clark explains in a blog how he uses Soldiworks CAD to draw, conceptualize, and model cars and then Solidworks Visualizer to produce renderings that are shared with executives. Not only does Solidworks allow him to produce top quality renderings, but also to visualize them in settings like highways and deserts from a more rounded perspective. There’s a fairly steep learning curve, all things considered, but there are courses that teach car design using Blender, as well as numerous YouTube videos showing what’s capable with this program.

As is the case with most software, the more money you spend, typically the better features you get. There are some exceptions, like Blender, which is a very high-quality software that’s completely free and open source – but generally, capabilities are dependent on budget. The latest version of the software, Rhino 7, allows you to create organic shapes with a range of SubD tools.

2024 Seasons Dates and Times

house season

Part of the issue was that without a firm deal to continue the series, NBCUniversal only had Hugh Laurie and Olivia Wilde under contract to appear in any following season. However, shortly after Fox's announcement, Robert Sean Leonard, Peter Jacobson, and Omar Epps agreed to new contracts. Jesse Spencer was in negotiations longer, but finally agreed to a new contract. However, Lisa Edelstein announced she would not be returning and instead joined the cast of The Good Wife. Throughout the season we see that House chooses his own interests over Cuddy until Cuddy comes down with what seems to be cancer that has metastasized, which will most likely result in her death.

Here's a list of the exact dates and times for the first days of winter, spring, summer, and fall through 2026!

Ser Simon Strong (Simon Russell Beale) will step up as Castellan of Harrenhal, Ser Gwayne Hightower (Freddie Fox) will surface as Otto Hightower’s son, and Alyn of Hull (Abubakar Salim) will follow up on his work in the Stepstones campaign. During this Targaryen Civil War, George R.R. Martin killed off half the population of Westeros and, as noted previously, nearly every member of the blondest family. However, the HBO series has already tweaked parts of the book, so there’s no reason to believe that everything will go down as Martin wrote in the lore. Queen Alicent and Otto Hightower will definitely begin to see consequences of their long game, and Rhaenyra will be coming for the Iron Throne with Blood and Cheese (wait for them, oh boy) paving the way. Let’s get real though — Alicent was headed in this direction regardless of whether it happened by mistake or by plan. Before hurricane forecasters started naming storms, they had to refer to storms by saying something like "the storm 500 miles east-southeast of Miami." But six hours later, the storm's position would change.

However, none of the cast members left at this point, they just filled different roles. Foreman, who initially tried to move on, instead wound up as a supervising fellow over the new hires. Cameron moved to the emergency room and started a relationship with Chase, who moved to the surgical department in an attempt to become board certified. In the finale of the previous series, House's entire team of fellows was fired or quit, leaving him without a staff.

Stacy helps him prepare for the disciplinary hearing and soon, no permanent charges are pressed against him although Chase gets a week's suspension and Foreman becomes Head of Diagnostics. House later figures out that Chase has been working extra time in the ER because his father disinherited him. In the two-part episode Euphoria, the team face a huge crisis on their hands when Foreman is accidentally infected with a disease that has already killed one patient. He nearly dies from it but House, Cameron, and Chase manage to save his life.

In addition, Chris Taub considers his loss of income, the drop down in reputation from working for Foreman instead of House, and his persistent fear of extreme medicine and once again tenders his resignation. Foreman realizes he can't work with Thirteen as her boss because she's afraid to challenge him on diagnoses - he fires her and asks Allison Cameron and Robert Chase to return to the team. Feeling overwhelmed by both her hospital responsibilities and the demands of a new child, she accepts Wilson's suggestion that she hand over some of her hospital duties to a deputy. She later stops tormenting House when she decides that making his life miserable won't do any good.

The 6-foot, 180-pound guard averaged 21.2 points to lead the ACC and rank 16th in Division I in scoring. He also shot 39.8% from 3-point range and 87.3% from the foul line in a big season that included going for 42 points against Miami to set a record for any player in the Smith Center, UNC’s home arena since January 1986. Winter time also lets you figure out how affordable the home is, including the added expense of mortgage payments and insurance. An independent agent can help you figure out the cost of homeowners insurance, which will allow you to better estimate whether you can actually afford the home of your dreams. Aside from saving money, visiting a home during late fall or early winter can give you a good indication of any repairs that need to be made, as AOL Real Estate notes.

If you’re evaluating if it is a bad time to buy a house, consider the type of home you’re looking for, your competition, and your finances. This season could be an uphill battle for first-time homebuyers whose purchasing power and credit score may be weaker compared to more experienced homebuyers and real estate investors. Additionally, with fewer prospective buyers, sellers are more open to lowering their asking prices and being flexible in negotiations.

But when she begins shouting that she has God inside her, it allows House to find a copper IUD inside her uterus. House was among the top 10 series in the United States from its second through fourth seasons. Distributed to 71 countries, it was the most-watched TV program in the world in 2008.[3] It received numerous awards, including five Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, a Peabody Award, and nine People's Choice Awards. On February 8, 2012, Fox announced that the eighth season, then in progress, would be its last.[4] The series finale aired on May 21, 2012, following an hour-long retrospective.

So, while it may be one of the slowest times for real estate listings and inventory, it is a good time to buy a house for homebuyers. When it comes to buying a house, there is a lot to consider, such as the overall shape of the property and the condition that it's in. If you're interested in getting a great deal, late fall or early winter can be a good time to buy a house. For starters, it's good to know that the average house price falls between the months of October and March. The same source notes that you can save anywhere from 7 to 10 percent when you buy a home in January, depending on the local market.

John Henry Giles (Harry Lennix), a legendary jazz musician with ALS, is brought in to be treated by Foreman for pneumonia. House's attempt to prove that he doesn't really have ALS causes John Henry to suffer respiratory failure. House intubates him in violation of his DNR and tries to keep him on life support using a legal technicality. Cameron notices a blood clot, which is removed, and MRI reveals an Arteriovenous malformation which is operated on restoring his ability to walk.

House is also not certain he wants to have a role in Rachel Cuddy's life and starts to balk at the responsibility, although towards the end of the season, House and Rachel seem to share a strange bond over a cartoon about pirates. Eventually, Chase plans to propose to Cameron, but when she learns about his plans, she starts making excuses not to go away with him. Shortly thereafter, House takes over the planning of Chase's bachelor party, hiring a stripper and hosting it at Wilson's apartment. While at the bachelor party, Chase does a body shot off of Karamel, a stripper suggested by the Amber hallucination who was also at Wilson's bachelor party for his third wife.

In addition, you should also be aware of your personal finances and goals, the overall state of the U.S. real estate market, the market growth, and how it’s expected to change in the near future. Warm weather and the fact that school will soon be out for summer break leads many home buyers to believe that spring is the best time to buy a home. However, it turns out that many home owners are putting their houses on the market at the same time, and are probably keeping the price as high as possible since it's a competitive time of year for the real estate market. Unless you want to pay top dollar for your new home, which you probably don't, it can be better to sit back and wait for some prospective buyers. House and Cuddy make their relationship public, but despite the fact that they are both happier than they have been for years, they both see problems. House is sure that Cuddy is merely hopped up on the sex and good feelings that are typical early in the relationship and that she will dump him once she realizes what she's gotten herself into.

Higher Listing Prices in May

However, when Thirteen and Taub jump to other opportunities, he turns back to Chase and Cameron for help. Meanwhile, House realizes that he can't give up diagnostic medicine that easily and plans to get all his former fellows back together. However, in the process, Cameron questions her commitment to both Chase and House and leaves them both.

When to Buy a House: How Seasons Affect Home Prices

Spring is one of the busiest times on the real estate market, and the pace quickly picks up by early January. The housing market is in full swing by spring and summer, when many people find it to be a good time to look at new houses and sell their own. This means that  opportunities like those prime winter time deals are not as easy to come by. Meanwhile, with House spending more time with Wilson, the team find themselves increasingly on their own.

Meanwhile, everyone starts speculating about why Number 13 is being so guarded, and Foreman lets it slip that he thinks she is bisexual, leading to rampant speculation by the rest of the medical staff. However, the biggest impact on Season 4 was the Writer's Strike, which shut down production on the series for about three months. As a result, Season 4 is the shortest season, with only 16 episodes being produced in all. In fact, the process to do this was almost as chaotic as the process House set up himself. However, of the forty "applicants" for the open fellowship positions, fewer than half had speaking roles in The Right Stuff and in reality only six actors had a real shot at staying on. However, even the cast members were kept in the dark until the last moment about which ones would be kept on.

” In general, the highest number of homes are listed for sale between March and September. Therefore, homeowners who haven’t sold their house after this rush are often stuck with fewer options. This makes the period between November and February an excellent opportunity for buyers to pounce on a home that has been on the market longer than anticipated and secure it at a lower price.

Main Cast

At the end of the series, it's House's most important relationship at stake when James Wilson reveals he has inoperable cancer. Despite being an oncologist, he rejects the conventional therapy for his thymoma and instead gets House to agree to try a short course of radical chemotherapy in order to shrink the tumor and make it operable. Wilson survives the treatment, but it doesn't work - the tumor remains inoperable, meaning that without treatment, Wilson will survive no longer than five months and, even with treatment, three years would be an exceptional lifespan. While Thirteen is absent, Cuddy insists that House hire a new female to replace her for the time being, but when House fires the initial new fellows, Cuddy sticks him with a bright young medical student, Martha M. Masters.

Where Is Every Former Summer House Cast Member Now?

After threatening to leave if Cuddy won't agree to methadone treatment, he instead goes back to Vicodin because his changed behavior with methadone almost cost a patient his life. Thirteen has to confront the reality, forced upon her by Amber's death at an early age, that she too is facing a lifetime with a devastating illness. Her behavior quickly starts to deteriorate and she is fired and then re-hired.

U.S. television ratings

He tries to get back with her by killing a rat that has invaded her home, but soon changes his mind after learning that the rat has an illness that brings out the diagnostician in him. To humanize its protagonist, the series delves deeper into the past of Gregory House by making him continue to face his past with the one true love of his life to that point, Stacy Warner. We find out the ultimate loner longs for the connection he had with this woman.

Eventually, House comes to terms with Wilson's choice and the two start to plan for their last few months together. At that point, Foreman drops a bombshell - because of a disastrous prank, House has to go back to jail for the next six months. House is put on a short leash, and the hospital lacks the funding to provide him with a proper team.

However, predictions from the National Association of Realtors, the National Association of Home Builders, and other research publications predict mortgage rates to decline to about 6% by the end of 2024. Although it's true that the best deals are often available during late fall and winter, it is essential to include personal and economic factors in the decision as well. For example, realtor suggests putting off buying a new home until your interest rates are low enough so that your mortgage costs will be comparatively less. Life events, such as starting a family, a sudden job or career change, or a marriage or divorce, occur throughout the year, and even as the year comes to a close. Houses are a big investment, and you don't want to miss out on your dream home just because you think that one part of the year is better for buying a home than another. Timing is critical, and good timing can be the difference between securing your home and losing it to another prospective buyer.

Returning characters for this season include House's wife, Dominika Petrova, his favourite prostitute, Emily, and almost all the main/guest characters that left the show. Prior to the start of the remainder of the season in 2011, it was announced that a multi-episode arc that would feature House on the road was scrapped, forcing David Shore to return to the show to rework the rest of the season. Furthermore, Fox ordered one more episode for the season, bringing the total number of episodes to 23. The seventh season of House premiered on September 20, 2010 and ended on May 23, 2011. This season marks the final appearance of Lisa Cuddy in the series, as Lisa Edelstein announced that she wouldn't come back for the next season. Matters come to a head at the worst possible time - House gives Cuddy a very thoughtful gift as a home warming present, but Cuddy thinks House has found out she's just become engaged to Lucas.

Ultimately, the most important factor in determining the best time to buy a house depends on your finances. The most prominent signs you’re ready to buy a house are a low debt-to-income ratio, an emergency fund, savings for a down payment, margin to homeownership costs, and knowledge of how to choose the right mortgage. On the other hand, between March and August 2022 and 2023, the percentages weren’t even in the negative. Davis led the Tar Heels to their first ACC outright regular-season title since 2017 and a No. 1 seed for the NCAA Tournament.

Then there’s CAM (computer-aided manufacturing) CAE (computer-aided engineering), such as Autodesk Alias, Solidworks, and CATIA. Norwegian Cruise Line: The Complete Guide

ncl cruise line reviews

I had cruised NCL three times before and was a silver member of the Latitudes rewards program when I booked. I love some of Norwegian’s exotic itineraries, including unique destinations like South Africa, Brazil, India and even Saudi Arabia! I hope to try one of these cruises in the near future to get an even better impression of Norwegian Cruise Line. I’d love to sail on a newer Norwegian ship so I could experience one of their full-length Broadway musicals and larger scale production shows. The smaller and older ships tend to be used for port-intensive itineraries that are more destination focused. I was shocked by how small the Garden Cafe was onboard Norwegian Sun.

The cabin seemed very spacious because the bed was by the balcony, which left a big open space in the cabin. While this was nice, anyone sleeping next to the balcony would have a difficult time getting out of bed without hitting the sliding glass door or the bed. The Prima looks a bit different than other NCL ships I had been on in that it is more understated elegance than in-your-face opulence. There were many decorative touches I wouldn’t mind having in my house.

NCL DAWN - AVOID AT ALL COST!

The first two — located directly across from one another on Deck 6 — are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. Have you ever been to a Starbucks where every single customer belted out the lyrics to "Sweet Caroline" in unison, mid-latte? Even more interestingly, it was on a cruise — Norwegian Encore, to be exact — where the ship's atrium singalong shenanigans spilled over into the nearby onboard coffee outpost.

Viking Cruises

The line's two newest vessels, Norwegian Prima and Norwegian VIva, have 72-cabin solo complexes spread over two decks. Tucked away in the middle of the ship, this "studio" zone is essentially a private escape for solos, with more solo cabins — 128 — than you'll find on any other ship at sea. It's a look that carries over to a bevy of high-end eateries, including Nama, a new-for-Norwegian sushi restaurant with a design that is as sophisticated as the sushi it serves. Also striking is the look of a version of Le Bistro, Norwegian's signature French eatery, that can be found on both of these vessels. Both of the spaces are built around three massive crystal chandeliers costing nearly $100,000 that hang down to the floor — a showstopper of a design element. Here we list our top picks for the best Norwegian cruise ships for five different types of travelers.

Restaurants and dining

For dinner, I started with tortilla soup and fried green tomatoes before moving on to pulled pork with cornbread, pickles, potato salad and coleslaw. It was just OK — not the best barbecue I've had, but also not the worst. Taste, Savor and The Manhattan Room are Norwegian Encore's three main dining rooms.

What is the best Norwegian Cruise Line ship?

Since we boarded at the tail-end of a long sailing, the vibes onboard were very subdued. This certainly wasn’t a traditional cruise and felt more like we came super late to the party, like when a party is almost over and everyone’s getting ready to go home. My two experiences with Norwegian Cruise Line have been very positive; however, the two itineraries I’ve sailed on are more unique compared to a standard sailing with the cruise line.

Our stateroom on Norwegian Sun was an inside cabin guarantee, which was spacious and comfortable.

Having to complete everything online was a chore for 3 persons - including uploading photos for ID (which in one case failed and caused delay on check-in). The club balcony suite needed vacuuming as there was significant amount of debris on the carpeting and under the bed (where the suitcases were stored). When in port the ship tilted to the rear so if the shower was used it rose above the lip and flooded the bathroom. No information regarding the ship was present in the room and the newsletter was predominately a list of activities and service contacts with inundation of leaflets pushing purchasing options. No information was given as to which deck was to be used to exit ship when in port (nor was it announced). All excursions exited through the theater - a real comedy act as it was not coordinated and ONLY one disembarkation exit was used for everyone.

Other interior attractions and activities

At around 143,000 to nearly 170,000 tons, all eight currently rank among the 50 biggest cruise ships in the world (although their rankings will shift downward as more big ships debut). Instead of a few big main restaurants with fixed seating times, Norwegian ships offer a wide range of eateries and no assigned seating times — just make a reservation. However, passengers who don't have it included — or those who have the basic plan included but want to upgrade — can pay to connect. Prices vary, but they're generally pretty expensive, ranging from about $30 to $35 per person, per day, depending on whether or not you need streaming capabilities.

Card Issuer

Lower tiers don't bring all that much in terms of truly valuable benefits. You'll get things like priority check-in and discounted spa treatments performed while ships are in port. However, higher levels of the program start to be enticing. Reaching the second tier, Silver (20 points), would take at the most three cruises if you're doing seven-night trips.

The Haven also has its own private pool with a retractable roof and hot tub. There are also two hot tubs on the exclusive area's sun deck. If the smell isn't enough to draw you in, let yourself be carried by the wonderful live music that accompanies the experience each night.

As is the case with the Galaxy Pavilion attractions mentioned above, the go-kart and laser tag experiences on Norwegian ships don't come cheap. You'll pay $15 per person for an eight-lap romp on the go-karts. If you know you want to eat at several extra-charge restaurants during a single voyage, you can buy one of several dining packages that offer meals at a discount. You might even find Starbucks stores on some ships (the one-year-old Norwegian Prima has two!) and there are Starbucks products on every Norwegian vessel.

You'll find everything from music halls with Beatles cover bands and dueling piano bars to theaters with some of the most elaborate shows at sea — including some big-name Broadway productions. Ultimately, Norwegian Encore offers a solid cruise product. The ship is large, so it's likely not the best choice if you enjoy smaller (or quieter) vessels. However, Encore's variety of activities appeals to travelers of all ages, making the ship ideal for multigenerational family groups. Just be aware that you'll likely incur a significant onboard bill if you want to try the latest and most adrenaline-pumping pursuits when you sail. Norwegian Encore levies automatic surcharges of $20 to $25 per person, per day, to final bills, depending on your cabin category.

DONT BOOK WITH NORWEGIAN! …

By way of a quick introduction, I’m Sarah, also known as “Prof. Cruise.” I retired after 10 years as a college professor to pursue my passion for cruising, moving across the country to Seattle where I now live downtown and within a five minute walk of the NCL cruise terminal at Pier 66. My passion for cruising is only equaled by my love for Alaska. I’ve cruised there so many times locals now wave to me, ask me to take in their mail when they travel, and flag me down to see if they can borrow a cup of sugar to which I reply, “you know I don’t actually live here, right? ” I’ve cruised to Alaska dozens and dozens of times on nearly every cruise line and itinerary. Hygiene on board substandard, filthy toilets, very few hand hygiene stations.

In a final desperate grasp at my dream, I imitated what I’d seen like 2,000 crazed women do earlier and flashed him while bobbing up and down and shouting in a glass shattering tone, “I love you Ringo” and back to the brig I went. All my food was good (the corn with a side of corn and the salad) to great (the guacamole and cake) but again, not worth the a la carte price ($60 + 20% service charge) I’d have paid without my Platinum voucher. There is a $9.95 + 20% service charge per room service order (but you can order as much as you want). When I checked the forecast this morning it looked like rain and temps hovering around 35 degrees so I suited up like a deep sea fisherman risking life and limb for her daily catch despite a promised hurricane.

Similarly, we didn’t have much time onboard Norwegian Sun to experience the entertainment. We listened to one live musician on the pool deck the first day and then attended one of the headliner shows, Cosmopolitan, on the second night. Because we wanted to enjoy our day in Cadiz, we spent our only full day ashore in the city.

Online check-in

If you're on a tight budget, there are plenty of included-in-the-fare choices for dining and entertainment. If money is no object, you can follow a different "journey" through the ship, as Norwegian executives like to say, to a far more high-end vacation. In general, Norwegian's newer ships including Norwegian Viva, Norwegian Prima and the Breakaway-class and Breakaway Plus-class vessels will be more expensive than the line's older, smaller ships. However, there are many factors that go into pricing for any given cruise, including the popularity of the specific itinerary, the time of year when the cruise is taking place and changing demand trends.

Favorite Spots On The Bliss

Depending on the service you receive, you can adjust the amount up or down at the guest services desk before disembarking. In addition, a 20% gratuity is added to the bill at bars, extra-charge specialty restaurants and ship spas. Few lines offer as broad a range of entertainment and activities on their ships as Norwegian. The line's biggest vessels offer multiple entertainment venues, from theaters to comedy clubs; a wide range of deck-top attractions; large casinos; full-service spas; and even virtual reality attractions. You'll also find a seemingly endless array of bars, lounges and nightspots. The exclusive, keycard-accessed suite complex called The Haven (found on 13 of Norwegian's 19 ships) comes with private lounges, pools and other tony features.

The gym is always my least favorite spot on any cruise ship, but I hated it even more on the Bliss, probably because I found it too hot and too small for the size of the ship and thought it opened too late in the morning (6am). For the size of the gym versus the size of the ship, it really should be been open 24/7 to have a prayer at accommodating everyone weird enough to exercise on vacation. I was in the throngs of despair, yes, but at least there was guacamole and I was alone so I could double dip. The shareable guacamole was prepared table side which was a little awkward for this introvert, terrible at small talk. “Seattle.” And then I remembered protocol, looked at his badge which said “Philippines” and asked “small town or large city? ” to which he responded “Manilla,” to which I replied, “oh, BIG city” and he moved on to his next table.

Norwegian Cruise Line is headquartered in Miami, Florida, and is currently part of the Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd., which also includes Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises. One 10-minute session of laser tag on the Bliss will cost you $9.95. This afternoon I lunched at The Local (complimentary pub restaurant) where I ordered the Reuben with no corned beef (because there isn’t a single vegetarian entree on the menu). But I was too embarrassed to order it like that so I was like, “can I get the artisan grilled cheese? And yes, everyone sitting near me raised an eyebrow in perfect sync like they belonged to the same boy band.

There are many different cruise lines to choose from, and each one offers a different type of experience. Some are geared towards families, while others are more focused on luxury or adventure. Do you need a wide range of activities to keep the kiddos happy while the adults live it up or relax? The onboard activities and amenities can really make or break your vacation, so be sure you know what you're getting.

2 Excursions overpriced and not as advertised never made it through the Panama Canal which was whole purpose of cruise as ship disembarked our tour group of 400 people 90 mins late. I complained to senior manager after being offered a poor 15% discount by rude excursions manager. After reading reviews now realise our cruise was not an isolated incident.

Unlike many cruise vessels, Norwegian ships do not have self-serve launderettes on cabin decks for passenger use. Instead, the line offers extra-charge laundry and dry cleaning services. At night, these three-deck complexes become bustling places. Norwegian is also a mass-market brand, not a luxury cruise operator. Still, as we'll explain below, it offers a wide range of accommodations, some of which fall squarely in the luxury segment.

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) is one of the top players in large-ship cruising, and its fleet is seeing one of its biggest refits in decades with its new Prima fleet of ships. Norwegian Cruise Line ships are also known for their colorful hull art that makes them stand out in ports around the world. Check out of fact sheets of Carnival, and Princess Cruise Lines to see what other options are awaiting you. Norwegian Dawn, the smallest of the fleet sailing in Europe this summer at 92,250 gross tons, will also spend its summer in Northern Europe. It will finish its current Mediterranean season with a 10-night cruise from Rome on April 26, transitioning to Barcelona and La Havre.

I don’t hike this trail as often when I visit Juneau because I usually opt to hike to the top of the Mt Roberts tram. But the tram wasn’t open for the season yet, so I wouldn’t have the option of taking it back down the mountain (which I don’t usually do anyway, but psychologically I like having the option). If you want a more serene spot to enjoy your buffet breakfast without having to walk all the way back to your cabin, go one deck down to the Observable Lounge. It’s not crowded in the morning, there are plenty of nice spots to eat, there are beverage stations, and there’s a continental breakfast set up to supplement your buffet items (fruit, pastries, cereal, deli meats, and cheese). Some may be wondering why I cruise to Alaska so often and why I’d want to do the exact same thing two cruises in a row. It’s always magical, ethereal, with so many lessons to teach me.  And it’s never, never the same.

In short, there are so many family-friendly things to do on Norwegian Encore that you and your kids likely won't be able to do it all in a single, weeklong cruise. Norwegian has some vessels, such as Norwegian Encore, that are loaded with family-friendly attractions such as waterparks and go-kart tracks that are perfect for families with teens and tweens. To me, Norwegian Encore is an even better choice than Norwegian Prima for families with school-age kids. The crew was amazing, and after just a few days, the ladies at Starbucks were calling me by my first name when I approached the counter.

You will only earn cruise points on eligible sailings where you are paying a traditional fare; promotional sailings with a heavy discount might not be eligible, although you would still receive the benefits at your tier. Also, sailings on sister lines do not qualify for Latitude Rewards cruise points.
